Anderson's illustrations are delightful, particularly those of the horse in motion. W. I have gained as much pleasure from this copy as I did from the tattered edition I first read in my Infant Classroom. This was the book that first fostered my loved of horses 48 years ago, and after spending the intervening years searching for a copy it has not been a disappointment. C.
There is a forest fire, a mountain lion, a wild horse. So far we have read 6 books in this series they are all very good. Billy And Blaze: A Boy And His Horse My 4 year old boy and I really enjoy the adventures had by this boy and his horse. Billy is a problem solver. We recommend them. The old fashioned black and white or sepia drawings are well done and fit the "old west" theme. Some stories have a slight hint at danger, but everything works out.
Lovely stories, beautiful illustrations. Can't really add much to the praises already posted by others, except to say, get these books for your children. Read them yourself.
My son loves them. This series is great. It is in a timeless, classic style and gives forward, simple & clean boyhood adventures.
Definitely a must read for any boy or girl who loves animals. I adored the Billy and Blaze series when I was a kid. The stories are timeless and kids of all ages can appreciate the bond between a boy and his horse.
